Pink Panther Plush
Despite the absolute flop of Steve Martin’s latest Pink Panther flick, the character is still adorable. You can pick up an 18″ plush Pink Panther at Amazon for $16 – eighteen inches! That’s the size of an American Girl doll. He’s cute, isn’t he? He’s bendable and posable and everything. He’s got safety eyes so he can be given to children or pets, but I think he should be kept clean so he stays pink and isn’t slobbery and gray.
Build a Bear Teddy
If you’d rather not make your own bear as previously described, you can buy this cute pink teddy at Build-A-Bear. It’s a little more expensive – only $25 for the bear, but you have to get accessories, that’s the point, right? If this guy doesn’t tickle your fancy, there’s a pink floral bear, a pink hearts bear, etc. If bears aren’t your thing, there’s a pink kitty, a pink hearts monkey, and lots of other animals to choose from.
Make a Bear
For $29 you can make your own latch hook teddy! Seems a little high to me, but they provide almost all the equipment necessary. You have to get your own hook and stuffing, but those are easily found at your local Michael’s, Joann’s, Hobby Lobby, etc.
Pink PS2
Haha, Americans, sucks to be you! I mean…us! As evidence of how Americentric this blog is, I completely missed that Europe and Australia have had an honest to goodness pink PS2, an actual Sony product, since 2007. Apparently it came bundled with two controllers and a memory card…all pink. The cables are pink, everything is pink. It also came with the game SingStar Pop, because apparently girls won’t want to play Resident Evil 4 on their pink machines. If you want one, you can check out eBay – this one is $300 – but be warned that it’s PAL format, not the US standard NTSC.
Automated Piggy Bank
For when gravity isn’t enough.
Soft iDog Speaker
Recognize this guy? Sure you do. If not, he’s by Hasbro/Tiger Electronics, and he’s called the iDog. He came out shortly after the first iPods, and has come in little plastic versions, keychain versions, and all kinds of versions since his debut. Now he’s a soft and cuddly character who works with any MP3 player. Place him near a speaker (including himself) and he’ll flap his ears and tilt his head to the beat. You can’t exactly cuddle him while he’s doing this, so I assume there’s an off switch for that. He’s going to run you $50 at Amazon, even though the white version is only $35. (He also comes in blue, but who cares?)
Swear Bear
Forget Care Bears, forget Build a Bear, forget teddy bears…this is a Swear Bear. It’s a girl, of course, and she suffers from PMS…”putting up with men’s sh*t!” and loudly tells you so in exactly so many words. She’s not even available yet, but you can pre-order her for $29.99. This reminds me of a little stuffed beaver I bought in San Francisco 10 years ago…she wore a little pearl necklace and pink skirt and said things like “me love you loooong time!” and other colorful phrases. Ah, whimsy!
Gaming Vest – Bzzt!
Apparently there’s this thing called a gaming vest. You know how normally you get a little vibration in your controller when you’re playing and somebody punches you? This has gone to a whole new level with the gaming vest, which can actually detect where your character has been hit and deliver an equivalent punch on your body. I can kind of understand the attraction of something like this, though I have no idea how it works. If you really like getting into games, this is a good way to do it – I assume it doesn’t hit you hard enough to really hurt! I’m touched that they made a pink version because they’re kind of saying girls deserve to get beat up too…I guess…right? Anyway, it’s $170 at Target and is USB compatible.
Pink Wii Accessories
For those of you who just got a Wii for the holidays, I have a few pink treats to enhance your experience! Pictured here is a carrying bag so you can tote everything easily; I can’t quite tell if it’s for accessories alone or if it’s also big enough to hold a Wii itself. You can get silicone covers for your Wiimote and the nunchuck; once you get those you have to get the wrist lanyard to match! If you’re going to play driving games, there’s a nice steering wheel you can get, but note that you have to take your Wiimote out of its pink case to use it. If you were lucky enough to get a Wii Fit system, you can buy this case for your balance board. And of course if you want your Wii itself to be pink, don’t forget DecalGirl’s Wii design. They also offer skins for controllers!
