Laptop Desk

From what I can tell, the Futura laptop desk is a flippity floppity plastic pad thing that’s supposed to protect both your lap (from an overheated machine) and your laptop (from…um…you?). But then again, you can also use it on a table. It positions your laptop at an angle to make typing easier. Aw hell, I’m just parroting the website. As I write this, I’m slouching on my bed and my laptop is on my LAP where it belongs. It’s not too hot, in fact it’s quite comfortable. Considering that they want $50 for the painted desks, I’m going to stick with what I’ve got. Which is to say, nothing. But hey, if you want a pink laptop desk, there you go.

Glorious Sparkly Mouse and Pad

Sparkly Mouse and Mousepad I haven’t used an actual mouse and mouse pad in many years – my laptops all have touch pads and the times I do use a mouse, it’s usually optical and doesn’t require a pad. However, if I was going to get one, this still probably would not be it. Like the less-blingy rhinestone mouse I mentioned back in July, this set is going to get really dirty after you’ve used it for a little while. Anybody who has spent hundreds blinging out their gear can tell you, hands have oil on them, and oil does not make for shiny crystals. It doesn’t really matter though, because I can’t find this for sale on the La Chaise Longue website, where it is supposedly available. (No, the site being in French is not the problem – I speak it well enough to read a webpage or two!)

Got-It-All Business Card Case

Got-It-All Business Card Case It’s not often that Hello Kitty is paired up with skulls, or even pirates – she has a more wholesome image. But this business card case does (just about) exactly that. This case has got it all. It’s pink, it’s covered with bling, it’s got skull-type graphics, and it’s got Hello Kitty! The only thing it doesn’t have is…a purpose. Does anybody use business card cases? I suppose they might be popular in Japan for holding meishi but I think they are rarely used in the western world. And yet I happen to have no idea where all of my many business cards have gotten to, so perhaps it would come in handy after all! Unfortunately I don’t know where to get one because the site where I found this refuses to print sources, but if somebody finds a way to purchase this I’d be happy to put up the link!

Rhinestone Mouse

Rhinestone Mouse Yes, I’ll take Ill-Conceived Products for $100, Alex? Seriously, this mouse was a bad idea. How do you operate a mouse? With your hand. What is on your hand? Dirt and body oils. What is on this mouse? Little shiny tidbits. What happens when you get dirt and body oils on little shiny tidbits? They get dirty. Seriously, who thought this was a good idea? I won’t deny that it’s cute, I do like the look, but it’s just not a good idea. And it doesn’t help that the scroll wheel looks further back than it should be, and I can’t see the buttons at all. So although this mouse is pink and somewhat sparkly, I can’t really recommend it. If you want to buy it anyway, you can find it at Tesora for about $17.

Cute Cord Holders

Bunny Cord Holder My entertainment center looks great from the outside, but a deep dark secret lurks behind it: the wires are a mess. It takes me 20 minutes anytime I want to hook something up or change things around, because the cords are all over the place and I don’t know what goes where. But Rakuten’s series of animal cord holders keep cables and wires neat and tidy. They’re about $3 each, and when they get dingy after sitting on the floor for a while, you can wash them by hand with a mild detergent.

Hello Kitty Shredders

Hello Kitty Hand Crank Shredder Speaking of shredding, you don’t have to bring in a drab gray shredder to keep your documents safe at work – as with almost everything, there is a pink version available, and these have Hello Kitty too! The little one is meant for business cards and junk mail, and it’s operated by hand (not by hamster). It can only take one page at a time (and there’s only room in the bin for two shredded pages), but if you need higher-capacity shredding there’s an automatic shredder too! Hello Kitty Automatic Shredder It’s fully functional just like every other shredder, it’s cross-cut with automatic shut-off, and it can handle up to 5 pages at a time with capacity for 70 shredded pages. I’m not personally a fan of the Hello Kitty face without the outline, but it does adorn this pink shredder.

Nyanko Stitch Lock Non-Stapler

Nyanko Stitch Lock I admit it: I am still using an old-school stapler for my paper-joining needs. Even though I have known about “stapleless staplers” for years, I still hang onto my old stapler with its delicate staples that constantly get bent and twisted and tear up my papers. But this Nyanko Stitch Lock is guaranteed to look cute on your desk while simultaneously joining your papers together. It’s more convenient than regular staples, which might kill your shredder, but it’s just as easy to use. And if you want to use it at the office, it provides a little dose of cute while still being useful, thus satisfying any draconian bosses!
