It’s technically in a brownstone in Harlem, but the doors are pink (as you can see in the picture) and reportedly some of the decor is pink too. I’ve always thought the hosteling community was pretty friendly and you didn’t have to worry about safety, but obviously there is some concern – the Pink hostel uses safety as a selling point. I’m going to be staying in a NYC hostel in March, but I’m traveling with a guy, so I won’t be able to report on Pink. Too bad, I’d like to see it!

Kicking off a new category here at PinkBlog, we have the Royal Plaza Mall in Aruba! It is located in the capital, Oranjestad, right near the cruise ship port. I am really attracted to this shade of pink! We were there last week, and I immediately knew I had to post it to PinkBlog…although I was surprised to find out I didn’t already have a Buildings category, since I have a picture of a different pink building, but I never got around to posting it! That will come soon. Anyway, the Royal Plaza Mall is home to a variety of shops, most of which sell trinkets and souvenirs. There are some interesting local handicrafts sold there, and there are at least two restaurants (that I saw) – Iguana Joe’s and Le Petit Cafe. The mall itself is open-air and four stories high, with kiosks in the plaza at the center. And it’s pink! Whoever came up with the idea that buildings should be painted pink, I owe you a sincere debt of gratitude.
