Pink Turquoise

There’s no such thing as pink turquoise. Turquoise is a stone that is a specific color, in fact, the color and the stone are synonymous. Turquoise is turquoise, it is not any other color. That said, if you want some nice dyed beads that look like the stone but have been dyed pink, click here!

Pink Sapphires

It turns out there is a dilemma when it comes to classifying pink gemstones. Part of this problem comes from the fact that the ruby and the sapphire are actually the same mineral (corundum) – when the stone is red, we call it ruby. Any other color, and we call it sapphire. But pink is just light red, isn’t it? So what do you call a pink corundum…is it a ruby or a sapphire? The answer seems to be either. Unless, of course, it comes from Sri Lanka and is of a specific type of orangey-pink, in which case it is called padparadscha…confused yet?

(The pendant pictured is from eBay and I highly doubt it’s a real anything, given that it was sold for under $5.)

Hello Kitty Costume for Pets

My mom sent me a gallery of cats wearing the famous Hello Kitty costume, and suggested that I could try it on my cat Mischa, who will put up with all sorts of costumes and torture. So I set about looking for it, and finally located it – it turns out to be 18,900 yen ($195)! I ran Google Translate on the webpage (result is here) and apparently they only made 90 of them. This is the same outfit that produces the other cat costumes although the Hello Kitty costume isn’t on that page. Too bad there’s only 90, I know thousands of people would buy them even for $195!

Pink Poodles

I don’t know why people dye animals. I actually don’t really like this, but it’s pink, so I had to share. The pictured poodle here is the mascot of Pink Poodle Spa. There’s also this pink poodle. I don’t really understand why you’d do this, though. The animals on the various dog shows on TV are pretty enough just as they are, why do you need to dye them? I can only see somebody like Elle Woods doing this, though I don’t think she did – she had a little Chihuahua, didn’t she?

Pink Tree

Does anybody recognize this tree? I found it on a blog but the author doesn’t know what it is either! I know dogwoods are often pink but those don’t look like dogwood flowers to me. Anyway, I think this is so cheery, wouldn’t it be fun to have one in the yard?

Do you know how hard it was to find pictures of someone called “Pink” wearing pink? Which is funny, because I just watched the E! True Hollywood Story about her, and for a while there she was running around in pink gear all the time. The story was not especially enlightening, in that I already knew her bad-girl thing with the attitude came from within, not from her past. But seriously, someone who goes by the professional name “Pink” should be in pink more often. I don’t have much more to say about her, except that the show gave two reasons for her name. The first is supposedly pertaining to Reservoir Dogs, and the second is that it has to do with the female anatomy. Ayup.
