It’s About Women

(lian amaris)
This is important.
There’s a big flap going on about the Komen Foundation right now, and how they are cutting off funding for groups “under investigation” which is code for Planned Parenthood. Of course, PP is only under investigation because it’s been targeted by right-wing groups, but Komen doesn’t want to do the dirty work of figuring that out, they just believe whatever they’re being told by conservatives. And although they’re trying to fix the bad publicity, they’re still a little shady about whether they’re actually going to be funding PP without political agendas getting in the way.
Women’s health is important. Planned Parenthood supports women’s health. Millions of women nationwide would be unable to receive ob/gyn services without them. They are a major provider of breast cancer screenings in the United States. America needs Planned Parenthood.
We don’t need the Susan G. Komen foundation, though. And although they make a lot of awesome pink stuff, there’s plenty more that doesn’t come from them. Check out this awesome design for an example, or this bumper sticker. Those don’t support PP directly, though. If you’d like to do that, stop by their website.
Women’s health is more important than pink stuff.
No commentsToms One for One Info
I’m sharing this infographic for two reasons. First, because Toms shoes has totally awesome pink glitter canvas shoes – which I’ll post separately in a moment. Having pink glitter in your product line makes you awesome. And second, because Toms does amazing things. As you read through this infographic, take note of what they’re doing around the world: they’re making life more livable.

Get It In Pink
I’m very excited to have been informed of Get It In Pink which is another all-pink blog! It features more than just products, too – there’s celebrities and all kinds of fun stuff. If you’re enjoying this blog, you’ll like that one too! And like me, the author doesn’t use affiliate links (unlike other pink blogs) so yay!
No commentsCounterproductive, hmph
Some see pink breast cancer awareness stuff as counterproductive gimmickery
Hmph. Needless to say, we at PinkBlog (okay, there’s just one of me) do not feel the same way.
No commentsNo Sneaky Ads
I’d like to point out that I do not make money from any of the posts here. There are ads in the sidebar and that’s it. I just found out about Oh So Pink which has a lot of pink stuff, but I noticed that every single product link has an affiliate tag. I find that unclassy, to only post stuff you can make money from…I could do all kinds of stuff if I just went through websites that offer affiliate links and posted from there, but I’d rather post stuff that is actually cool and can interest my readers, not just stuff for money.
2 commentsRelaunch
Welcome back to Pink Blog! I was away for a few months because I was working on two theses for college, and then I went to Japan for three months for an internship. I found some cool pink stuff there, and of course I’ll be posting some of it! I’m back now, and this semester will be more laid-back, so it should be easy to keep up with posting. I’ve changed the design to go with the relaunch of Pink Blog. Thanks for reading!
No commentsPink Phones Blog
Just want to point your attention to Pink Phones, a blog about…well, pink phones! It is run by Syuzi and she does a great job of picking up phones I’ve never heard of – mostly those for the Asian market. Happy to have you on my blogroll, Syuzi!
No commentsNobody Knows
This picture is from Picture is Unrelated, a blog about pictures that have no explanation but are definitely weird. I thought this was too cute to pass up!

Microsoft’s Project Pink
I realize the project is probably dead in the water already, but it seems strange that Microsoft was launching a smartphone line called Pink. Let’s be honest here, pink is a gendered color; I know Real Men Wear Pink, but if you take a poll of technology users, it’s going to be the women who buy up the pink ones. I don’t see anything about an actual pink-colored phone being part of the lineup (which is why there’s no picture on this entry), so it’s not like men would be carrying something pink, but they’d still have to say they “just bought a Pink phone” which is going to sound weird. I just find the whole idea weird. Surely there’s more names to choose from!
No commentsLipstick Bail Bonds
This lovely pink SmartCar is owned by Lipstick Bail Bonds, a bail bonds agency owned by – get this – twin female ex-cops. They also do a bit of bounty hunting, as reported by the National Enquirer. They drive pink SUVs and use pink handcuffs. If you like what they do, there’s a full selection of merchandise available.
