Pink Sapphires
It turns out there is a dilemma when it comes to classifying pink gemstones. Part of this problem comes from the fact that the ruby and the sapphire are actually the same mineral (corundum) – when the stone is red, we call it ruby. Any other color, and we call it sapphire. But pink is just light red, isn’t it? So what do you call a pink corundum…is it a ruby or a sapphire? The answer seems to be either. Unless, of course, it comes from Sri Lanka and is of a specific type of orangey-pink, in which case it is called padparadscha…confused yet?
(The pendant pictured is from eBay and I highly doubt it’s a real anything, given that it was sold for under $5.)
No commentsEgg Shaper
Apparently in Japan you need to shape your eggs. I think this is a fabulous idea, actually, because who doesn’t want something edible and adorable? It’s really easy to use – insert a freshly boiled egg, close, put into fridge for five minutes, then open and remove your shaped egg. This particular one is Hello Kitty, obviously; I’m sure other shapes are available but this one is what I found cute.

I got bored so I made this dollie at the eLouai Dollmaker!
