Food Carrying Case

Onigiri Case Here’s another way the Japanese have fun with lunch – little food-shaped food cases! This one is shaped like onigiri, a Japanese rice ball. It’s pink with cherry blossoms on it, which the Japanese call sakura. But you don’t have to keep onigiri in this, of course – it’s suitable for holding any food. It has locking clasps and is microwave safe, but it probably won’t fit in most bento boxes because of the size. It’s cute though, I would definitely be willing to pay $9.50 for it if I didn’t already have a Hello Kitty soft-sided lunch box.

Hello Kitty Decorates Your Lunch

Vegetable Cutters The Japanese are brilliant when it comes to jazzing up their lunches. The only American who can compete is the woman behind Vegan Lunch Box! In addition to having 80 million different bento box styles, the Japanese also die-cut their vegetables with Hello Kitty Vegetable Cutters. Take a peek at this picture and you’ll see what I mean by die-cut vegetables…little Hello Kitty faces cut from carrots and so forth! I’m not 100% sure how it works, but if somebody decides to pay the $7.50 for it, let me know how it works out!

Pink Football Purse

Pink Football Purse When I posted about pink footballs yesterday, I missed an example. Strangely enough, a company that sells sporting goods also sells a pink football purse for $125. It’s not actually made of a football, it’s just leather shaped like a football, with laces and handles attached. I suspect there is definitely a market for an item like this, though I can’t really see carrying it unless it’s pretty big (no size listed on the website) because it looks rather impractical for actually keeping things in.

No Pink Football

Pink Football by James Jaxxa Someone recently left a comment asking if there were any pink footballs out there. I thought for sure there must be, so I went in search of one. To my surprise, I couldn’t find anything! There’s pink jerseys, a pink uniform for girls, a pink field, and a controversial pink locker room – but no pink footballs. Well, no American pink footballs: a company called Sherrin makes pink Australian footballs for kids, but they look a little different from American footballs. Instead, the closest I could find was the artwork pictured here, Pink Football by James Jaxxa, who created it using a regulation football, sequins, and straight pins. It’s actually rather cute, but it’s not something you can play with. I’m honestly rather surprised that there aren’t any pink footballs out there…everything else is pink!

Luscious Pink Perfume

Luscious Pink Perfume I don’t get it. Mariah Carey’s new perfume, Luscious Pink, is supposed to “evoke a day in Capri.” What? My perfume is supposed to evoke a place I’ve never been to? Olfactory memories are great, and if you’ve been to Capri perhaps this will remind you of it, but how can the scent evoke something for me if I don’t know what that thing is? Additionally, the fragrance was inspired by Mariah Carey’s “voice and impressive range” and gives “a more intimate look” into her world. What? It’s a perfume. Okay? A perfume. With a celebrity’s name slapped on it. Jeez, people.

Hello Kitty Angel Phone

Hello Kitty Angel Phone Do you have this phone? I do! My in-laws gave it to me for Xmas. It’s $40 at the Sanrio Online Store. It has caller ID (if you have it from your phone company), all the buttons you’d expect including redial, a blinking button to tell you if you missed any calls, and the wings and wand light up! I think they should have been pink, meaning they would light up with a white LED, but it turns out they light up red – probably more visible that way anyway. It’s corded, I’d rather have had a cordless one, but it’s still totally faboo and we do use it!

Hello Kitty Costume for Pets

Hello Kitty Costumes for Pets My mom sent me a gallery of cats wearing the famous Hello Kitty costume, and suggested that I could try it on my cat Mischa, who will put up with all sorts of costumes and torture. So I set about looking for it, and finally located it – it turns out to be 18,900 yen ($195)! I ran Google Translate on the webpage (result is here) and apparently they only made 90 of them. This is the same outfit that produces the other cat costumes although the Hello Kitty costume isn’t on that page. Too bad there’s only 90, I know thousands of people would buy them even for $195!

Pinkwashers

Put a Lid on It According to Think Before You Pink, a “pinkwasher” is:

A company that purports to care about breast cancer by promoting a pink ribbon campaign, but manufactures products that are linked to the disease.

In particular, the campaign references Yoplait yogurt, which is made with an artificial growth hormone that has been linked to breast cancer. They’ve already convinced Yoplait to get rid of the hormone by the end of August, and I think next they’re turning their attention to cosmetics makers which use phthalates and parabens in their products. It’s apparently only “pinkwashing” if the maker promotes a breast cancer pink ribbon campaign while simultaneously using these products…but this kind of hypocrisy is worth turning a spotlight on.

Pink Poodles

Pink Poodle I don’t know why people dye animals. I actually don’t really like this, but it’s pink, so I had to share. The pictured poodle here is the mascot of Pink Poodle Spa. There’s also this pink poodle. I don’t really understand why you’d do this, though. The animals on the various dog shows on TV are pretty enough just as they are, why do you need to dye them? I can only see somebody like Elle Woods doing this, though I don’t think she did – she had a little Chihuahua, didn’t she?

Build a Bear Teddy

Build a Bear Teddy If you’d rather not make your own bear as previously described, you can buy this cute pink teddy at Build-A-Bear. It’s a little more expensive – only $25 for the bear, but you have to get accessories, that’s the point, right? If this guy doesn’t tickle your fancy, there’s a pink floral bear, a pink hearts bear, etc. If bears aren’t your thing, there’s a pink kitty, a pink hearts monkey, and lots of other animals to choose from.
