It’s Cold In Here
It amuses me that even the largest appliance in the kitchen comes in a gorgeous shade of pink. Unfortunately it’s a little small, under five feet tall and only a little over nine cubic feet. And the inside isn’t pink, although it does come with a small ice section and some drawers. And yet, this refrigerator is cool for another reason: it says S M E G across the front. (Yeah, I’m giggling.) Apparently the company name is Smeg. I’ve never heard of it before, as far as I’m concerned, smeg means…well, see for yourself.
Hello Kitty Bowling Ball
This is a classic item I’ve seen many times before, but it hasn’t been featured on this site yet. The Hello Kitty bowling ball is one in a large lineup of character-covered Viz-A-Balls. I don’t have sufficient skills to make it economical to buy my own ball, but I know bowling is a pretty popular sport so perhaps someone reading will be inspired to buy their own! There’s also a matching hand towel. I don’t see a Hello Kitty ball bag on the site, but there are lots of other pink bowling accessories that will satisfy a wide range of bowlers…provided they like pink, that is. I do think it would be fun to walk in with a pink ball bag and then pull out a Hello Kitty ball though! (It’s too bad I didn’t get this entry written on the 14th when I bookmarked the ball, or I could have beaten Hello Kitty Hell to the scoop. I do have to give him credit for finding several different HK bowling balls though!
Pink Power for Your Car
This little power inverter is so useful. A power inverter converts from DC to AC power, which means you plug this little box into your car’s cigarette lighter – it works in boats too – and you instantly have regular outlets that you can plug all your stuff into. If it wasn’t so expensive ($44) I’d get it, because I have some devices that I don’t have a car charger for. I think it would come in most handy for using a laptop in the car – your passenger could play a game, or you could use it as a GPS device and have your computer read out directions for you.
Fondue Set
There’s a restaurant chain called The Melting Pot that has a location near me. They’re extremely popular, if you want to eat there you better make a reservation! And once you get there, bring your highest-limit credit card…it’s a pricey place. But why should I go to The Melting Pot when I can get a pink chocolate fondue set for under $10? I’m not sure if it would also work with cheese; I don’t know what the specifications are. But it’s really easy to use – plug it in, crank up the heat, put in some chocolate, and once it’s melted use the little skewers to dip your favorite foods (usually one uses fruit with this kind of thing). It’s a good housewarming gift!
Tampon Taser
I suspect this product is not real, but let’s pretend it is. It’s a stun gun shaped like a tampon, of all things. The main flaw I see in this device are that it wouldn’t look particularly good while you were walking to your car in the dark – it’s supposed to be discreet, and you can certainly fit it in the palm of your hand, but who carries around tampons outside their wrapper? But furthermore, how is the tampon supposed to get shot out of the applicator? Those plastic applicators are kind of stiff, I can’t imagine it could pack sufficient punch to get through the rounded end. Then again, if it’s enough to zap someone, maybe it’s enough to get out. Anyway, I don’t think this is real, but it’s amusing. Maybe someday an attractive, realistic pink taser will come to market.
Pink Leather Flask
It seems to me that putting leather in the same place as a spillable drink is not a good idea, but this engraved pink leather flask doesn’t seem to mind. Plain flasks can be had pretty cheaply, in the $10-20 range, but the addition of pink leather brings this one up to $35 (engraving included). Personally, I think it’s worth it just for the laugh factor of swigging booze out of a girly flask, but it might also be suitable for smuggling your own alcohol into a pricey club. As for the ad copy saying it makes a great bachelorette party favor, I think it is way too expensive for that, but I do think it would make a cute bridal shower gift.
Cherry Blossom Suitcase
I love this cherry blossom suitcase from Flight 001. I’ve actually been to their store but I didn’t see this beauty there; it’s a good thing or I might have bought it! At $325 it’s slightly more expensive than a similar Hello Kitty suitcase I have seen in the Sanrio store, but it’s really beautiful. The problem with hard-sided suitcases, though, is that lately they are likely to push you over the weight limit and you’ll have to pay more when flying; this one is 15 pounds. But hey, you’ll always know it on the baggage claim carousel!
Pink Panther Car
I have always loved the DeLorean from Back to the Future – I love those gullwing doors. Even though this original Pink Panther car has funky doors, I don’t like it – it’s a little too strange, and anyway, it’s not street legal! It was sold on eBay a couple of months ago, but I’m a little confused by the details on that. Coolest-Gadgets.com says it was starting at £75,000 and refers to an invalid item link, and this site refers to an auction by Flogit4U, so I found this one, but the maximum bid was about £15,000 and it didn’t meet the reserve. So I have no idea what happened to that car, but if you want your own, you might be able to find the model car version out there somewhere!
Pink Meez
Okay, so I am a big dork…I love playing with paper dolls online! The eLouai ones are probably the best, but Meez are cool too – they are animated! You can see my Meez’s animation if you click on her. They have a pretty good selection of outfits, accessories, and backgrounds; unfortunately some of them require “Coinz” but there’s a bunch of free stuff too. There was a ton of pink stuff I could have chosen for this Meez, but I ended up with the outfit you see at left. (I was disappointed the pink motorcycle cost Coinz, that would have been really awesome!)
Heart and Ribbon Bling
Here’s the cheapest piece of pink bling you can find: Kristen Grace’s Pink Ribbon and Heart Crystal Brooch. They are both done up with Austrian crystal (two different shades, even) and they’re only six bucks. They’re pretty tiny, but they would be a subtle sparkle on anybody’s shirt. No money actually goes toward breast cancer research, from what I can tell, but if you are strapped for cash and you want a gift for your favorite breast cancer survivor, this is a good idea.
