Earphones in Pinks
Often, when a company includes pink in its product lineup, it has only one shade. Sometimes it’s pale pink, sometimes it’s hot pink. But most products do not come in more than one shade of pink, much less six shades of pink! But that’s exactly what the Pink Pink Pink earphones are all about. They come in hot pink, pale pink, medium pink, salmon-like pink, purple-like pink, and gray-pink. The actual product page is in Japanese, but you can click here for a translated version. As far as I can tell they’re about $15, which is not a bad price for good earphones.
Soft Pink Slippers
Okay, at $19 these slippers are admittedly way expensive. I’m pretty sure you can pick up cheap pink slippers at your local Target. But these are mega-soft chenille, so I wanted to share. I’m not sure why they’re called “pomegranate pink” – haven’t these people ever seen a pomegranate? They are red! Anyway, I am not getting these myself, because they are flip-flop style (I don’t like having things between my toes) and because I usually run around barefoot, but these are great for you or your slipper-wearing friends!
Crazy Toys
I picked up these two adorable toys while we were on vacation, at a shop in Seattle called Schmancy that was a few doors down from my hotel. This first one is Gloomy Bear by KidRobot, who is now sitting in my kitchen. According to the box he came in, he has been told multiple times that he’s not supposed to eat people, but, well, he keeps forgetting! So I figured the kitchen was a good place to put him because there’s always plenty of food in there…and I’m not talking about the people who are trying to cook! I also just loved that a character called “Gloomy Bear” who was covered in blood and gore could be bright pink. Hooray for Gloomy Bear!
I got Polpettina for my wife’s desk at work. She is always saying she doesn’t want any more stuffed animals, so I figured a spiky little girl cactus was the perfect opposite to plush animals! I didn’t figure anything out about why the bow on her head is actually a bone, but she was too cute for me to pass up in the store, even if she was awfully expensive – she’s only 2-3 inches high.
Back from Vacation
Just wanted to let everybody know that I am back from vacation! I am slowly posting my pictures and I’ve got a few pink items to share. Fortunately I have the whole weekend to put them up…see you soon!
No commentsPink Ruffled Choker
In 2001, I spent three weeks on vacation in Turkey, which has left me with an affinity for – or at least an interest in – all things Turkish. And yet this choker, by Turkish designer PINaR ERIS, does absolutely nothing for me. Aside from the fact that it’s selling it for sixty-nine dollars ($69?!?!), it’s just unattractive. It looks like somebody cut up a sweatshirt and ran some elastic through it. Is this supposed to be Gothic Lolita, or perhaps just trashy 80′s style? Either way, I don’t like it, even if a Turk designed it. But if you do, don’t let that stop you from buying it…I just hope you have $69 to spend on a bit of ruffled fabric.
Chinese Laundry Shoes
I couldn’t decide which of these Chinese Laundry shoes I liked more, so I decided to bring them both to you! The glittery one is called Dagger and it looks like more of a clubbing pump to me. It’s got a 3.75″ heel, so it might be hard to dance in, but it would definitely look cool on your feet, or wherever you end up ditching it while dancing! Also, note that right now shipping is only $5 at the Chinese Laundry online shop!
This one is called Spicy and it comes in two shades of pink. This hot pink version is actually leather, and it also comes in patent in a pale pink. The pale pink is a cute babydoll shoe but I think the hot pink makes much more of an impact. Actually, this one comes in 22 colors (!) so you could wear this exact shoe every day and still have it coordinate perfectly with whatever you’re wearing.
Caffeine with Kitty
Although the English/Japanese USB keyboard and the desktop wastebasket caught my eye, the Hello Kitty item that caught my eye on GizmoDiva lately was the six-cup coffee maker. It has all the features you could want in a coffee maker: water level gauges, a washable filter basket, and – well, whatever else you would want in a coffee maker. The red power indicator on the bottom looks a little garish with this shade of pink, but perhaps it’s not that bad in person, or perhaps it looks pink when it lights up. If I drank enough coffee to need my own coffee maker, this is definitely one I would get – suitable for home use, or even in small offices that don’t need an enormous urn-thing like my office has.
Sparkly Rings
Ooooh, shiny! These fantastically expensive rings are totally glam. They are said to be stackable, but it looks like all four on one finger would be too big, and any less would look too shiny and eye-popping. I guess one shiny and one flat per be-ringed finger might go well together, what do you think? If you don’t want to pay $5,650 for the whole set, individual rings go for $1,050 to $1,950. I’m not sure why white gold, enamel, and a 0.11ct diamond would be quite that expensive, but I guess Adolfo (whoever that is) just commands that much.
Sephora Piiink
It turns out Sephora, the beauty store, has a whole line of products called Piiink. All of the products are made in France, and they say everything is inspired by international trends. Most of the packaging is pink, even if the items aren’t; the $6 My Magiiic Mascara is actually two tubes, one with black mascara and one with silver glitter, combined into a single pink unit. Also $6 is the limited-edition My Phosphorescent Kiiit which comes with glow-in-the-dark mascara and nail polish. I wonder how many Sephora customers can spell “phosphorescent” while they’re applying the products? Anyway, this is a definite appeal to hip young females, though the marketing doesn’t quite strike me as for the kawaii target demographic…it’s just for too-cool-for-you girls who like pink.
Cook for the Cure
It appears that I was only reporting partial information when I talked about the pink mixer, because it turns out KitchenAid has an entire pink kitchenware set! The Cook for the Cure website features a dinner party kit you can order, so you can use your brand new set with glee. In addition to the stand-up mixer itself, there’s a mixer cover, a toaster, a pink heart-shaped silicone cake pan, two different blenders, a variety of utensils and cutlery, two different food processors, and a hand mixer! All in pink. If you want to outfit your kitchen in a nice subtle pink shade – and donate money to the Susan G. Komen Foundation with your purchase – definitely start with KitchenAid.
